Lake Kemnade / Ruhr valley
An oasis of recreation and relaxation in the central Ruhr valley is Lake Kemnade, which was completed in 1979. There's something for everyone here – walkers and cyclists, tennis players and water sports enthusiasts. Cafés, restaurants, playing fields and barbecue facilities invite the visitor to take time out and unwind. Within a short walk lies the moated castle Haus Kemnade with the Farmhouse Museum and excellent restaurant.

quiet? Then you shouldn't miss a round-trip on one of the two pleasure ships. Sitting up
on the sun deck, sail to Kemnade Weir and through the lock to Herbede, or alight at
Hardenstein castle ruins or at the riverside road in Witten-Bommern.
