Office of Environmental Health and Safety
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety provides a wide range of services, e.g., bomb disposal, matters relating to the keeping of dangerous animals, hunting and fishing, and food hygiene. In the commercial sector, the Office is responsible for the inspection of restaurants and public houses. Bochum Symphony Orchestra
The Bochum Symphony Orchestra, under its current musical director Steven Sloane, is the only German orchestra to have received the accolade "Best concert programme" for the 1996/97 season by the German Association of Music Publishers. Bochum Civic Theatre
From its foundation in 1919, Bochum Civic Theatre has been one of the best known theatres in Germany. Matthias Hartmann, director since the 2000/2001 season, handed over to Elmar Goerden in summer 2005. Performances are also staged in the studio theatre (Kammerspiele) and TuT (basement theatre).
